Almost like a cameo part in a movie – is that Odin in Valheim watching from a distance, disguised in a cowl and walking with a stick? Yes, it most likely is. Players have reported seeing this distant figure, including the shot above from my own game. He won’t stick around if you try to get closer, though, and will just disappear without moving.

Odin is the Allfather, or the father of all the gods in Norse mythology. The Vikings consider the gods as being able to walk among them in the human world, and, in fact, some famous Vikings are said to be descended from the gods themselves. Odin is rumoured to like to roam among the humans, but did it in disguise. He would wear a cloak and walk with a spear named Gungnir. He would wear a wide-brimmed hat as well, but he doesn’t appear to do so in Valheim. In this way he would travel around Midgard.
Odin had two ravens as companions who would fly out and bring back information to him. These were named Huginn and Muninn – the former already exists in Valheim as the large black raven who provides the player with insights into the world.

The image above shows a little more detail of the figure in Valheim. We can see the cloaked traveller, with a stick rather than a spear, and without the wide-brimmed hat. However the most noticeable feature is the one eye – Odin gave up his other eye in order to gain more power. It does seem likely, therefore, that this is actually the Allfather himself!
Odin isn’t the only god that makes an appearance in Valheim – take a look at the sky during a thunderstorm, and you may have a surprise to see something else roaming around! Could this be Thor?
