The fifth boss in Valheim is Yagluth. This boss is the final one in the game so far, but at least two further bosses are planned. He is found in the Plains biome and is a significant increase in difficulty from earlier bosses. This guide will help you prepare for, summon, and defeat Yagluth.
What is the Yagluth Boss
Yagluth is an undead creature in the form of the upper half of a massive human skeleton. He crawls across the ground with his arms while breathing fire and summoning meteorites. He is found in the Plains biome at an altar beneath five very tall curved stones shaped like fingers reaching out from the ground. Yagluth is the fifth boss in Valheim.

Preparation for Defeating Yagluth
You will want to be well armoured and armed for the fight against Yagluth. His attacks, though slow, are devastating. The other mobs in the Plains can be highly dangerous, particularly when in a group. Yagluth uses fire as a main weapon, so fire resistance barley is essential to repel the worst of these effects. As with any boss, you are likely to take some damage at some stage. Healing potions are highly recommended as a backup.
You should take the best food you can for health and stamina. By this stage sausages would be a minimum, and most likely you will have Lox Meat Pie, Lox Meat, and possibly Serpent Stew if you can find a serpent. Fish wraps are excellent as well. Any three of these four would be ideal.

Yagluth is susceptible to frost and spirit damage, so weapons such as frost arrows, frostner, and silver sword are good. He is a physical being, so weapons which deal a lot of physical damage are good as well.
By the stage of taking on Yagluth, you should be able to put together a powerful armoury. The Draugr Fang bow is a superb weapon for dealing both physical and spirit damage. A mace of some kind, particularly the Porcupine, is also very good at damaging Yagluth.
Likewise, you should be able to pull together a good set of armour by this stage. Wolf armour is good. Padded armour is even better. Either way, make sure you have upgraded to the max – a quality 4 set of Wolf armour is better than the quality 1 Padded armour.
Summoning Yagluth
Yagluth’s altar location can be found on a Vegvisir runestone either at a ‘stonehenge’ arrangement of stones in the Plains, or near single standing stones. The altar itself is found beneath three giant curved stones, forming an enclosed space around the altar. To summon Yagluth you will need five Fuling Totems. These are found in most large Fuling villages in the Plains, although you will need to kill the Fulings within the village to retrieve them.

When you are ready to summon Yagluth, place the five Totems in the spaces provided on the altar. Stand back and Yagluth will be summoned.
Fighting Yagluth
Yagluth will use three different attacks:
- He will slam down on the ground in front of him with his left hand. Before he does this his hand will glow blue, allowing you time to retreat. When he hits the ground he will cause a small explosion, dealing damage instantaneously, and the resulting fire will cause prolonged damage for a short time afterwards.
- He will slam down on the ground with his right hand. It will glow red before he does this. When he does it he will summon meteorites to rain down, causing damage at the landing sites.
- Yagluth will also breathe fire from his mouth, creating a narrow cone of fire extending out a long way for a time. He will turn around while doing this, tracking the player.

To fight Yagluth, the best strategy is to stay away from his front, and shoot him with Frost arrows. Stay close to the large stones so you can duck behind them when he breathes fire. Keep up the barrage and you can likely take him out without coming close to him. You can safely approach from the rear and use melee weapons to deal damage as well.
Keep an eye on his hands to either step away from him or to seek cover (if possible) from the meteorites. If in a group then it would be best to surround him and either shoot from a distance or run up when his back is turned. It would also be wise to have somebody keeping an eye out for other enemies, such as Fulings. These could cause a lot of damage if allowed to harrass somebody who is concentrating on Yagluth.
Defeating Yagluth
Once you have defeated Yagluth you will be given the Yagluth Trophy. This will give you protection from Fire, Frost and Lightning damage. You will also be given the Yagluth Thing, which is a placeholder for future content.
