6. Build Collection Nets

Click to share...

The sooner you get to the Collection Nets, the sooner you stop having to haul all every piece of flotsam aboard by hand. An efficient system of nets around your raft will yield as much material as you need, and all you have to do is pick it up whenever you need it.

Collection Nets need 6 Planks, 8 Rope and 2 Nails to build. That’s fairly expensive early game, but well worth the investment. Make sure to place them at least one block away from the edge to prevent Bruce from nibbling them (they’ll still work just as well). You don’t need to put them in a constant line – every other square will do fine. If you haven’t got the steering wheel yet (which you won’t if you’re following this hint!) then you won’t be able to turn the raft. In this case you should put two rows of collection nets – one running in each direction for when the raft is turned by bouncing off islands.

Remember that you can pick up a Collection Net to reposition it if you need to. You don’t need to destroy it. Nets can collect up to 10 different items before new ones start floating past – so make sure to empty them into your storage chests regularly.
