4. Choose the Right Food

One quandary you’ll find playing Raft is how to choose the right food to eat. You can hunt, forage, or farm various types of fish, meat and vegetables, so which food is the right one to choose?

You’ll find your first beets or potatoes in the various barrels that you haul aboard. If you’re forward thinking you’ll plant these in planters and have a plentiful supply, but that requires water, which in turn requires wood. It also needs more looking after than you’ll be likely to be able to give in the first few hours.

You may be able to find animals on the islands to kill, but this will be in short supply. Killing Bruce provides shark steaks, but this is more time-consuming than beets!

One form of food which doesn’t take much effort is fish. Once you have a fishing rod you should aim to live off fish until you have a protected and sizeable farm up and running. There is a variety of fish to catch – some of them provide quite a substantial meal.
