How to use the Forsaken Powers in Valheim

You’ve got yourself started, you’ve got a shield and a bow and killed a few deer. You’ve gone back to the spawn point and registered the location of Eikthyr and you’ve actually gone and destroyed that insane deer. Your next task is to go back to spawn where the stone tablets are and hang the Eikthyr trophy on the right stone (the one with the deer drawing on it!).

Once you’ve done this you can activate the Eikthyr Forsaken Power by pressing E while looking at the hook with the trophy on it. You will see an icon at the bottom left to tell you that you have the power from now on. Eikthyr’s Forsaken Power increases your running and jumping skills, and reduces the impact on stamina from these for 5 minutes. You can use the skill once every 20 minutes by pressing F (by default) for Forsaken Power.

Eikthyr Forsaken Power – -60% Jump and Run stamina usage

Eikthyr isn’t the only creature in Valheim which gives you a Forsaken Power. In fact, there are five Forsaken Creatures in total (count the tall stones!). Each one grants a different power. You need to defeat each creature and then take their trophy to the appropriate standing stone. You can select that power, or any other accessible power, by pressing E on the stone. Once you’ve done this you can use that one power at any time (assuming it’s warmed up) by pressing F. If you want to change the power you need to go back to the spawn point and select a different standing stone with E.

The five forsaken powers are:

Eikthyr

As described already, Eikthyr is a humongous deer in the Meadows which shoots lightning from it’s antlers and tries to kill dead Vikings. The Forsaken Power decreases stamina drain of running and jumping by 60% for five minutes. Effectively you can run and jump for longer.

Elder

The Elder is a massive tree-person in the Black Forest which throws vicious roots from it’s branchy arms while trying to kill dead Vikings. Once you’ve killed this creature the Forsaken Power you get allows you to cause 60% more damage while chopping trees for five minutes. Effectively, you can chop more wood in the same time.

Bonemass

Bonemass is a huge blob of rotting material in the Swamp which throws out a poisonous cloud which helps it to kill dead Vikings. The Forsaken Power you get from Bonemass grants you additional resistance to blunt, slash and pierce attacks for five minutes. This power is a defensive one, allowing you to survive for longer under multiple attacks.

Moder

The dragon Moder inhabits the highest Mountain tops and breathes a deadly stream of ice which helps it to kill dead Vikings. On death Moder will give you a Forsaken Power which will change any wind into a tailwind for five minutes. This power is useful for sailing, as you can use it when tackling a tailwind. It won’t change the strength of the wind; just the direction, and it only applies while the player is holding the tiller of the ship.

Yagluth

In the Plains the giant partial skeleton called Yagluth breathes fire at dead Vikings in an attempt to kill them. He gives you a Forsaken Power on death which gives resistance to fire, frost and lightning attacks. This is another defensive power, useful when fighting creatures with those attacks.
