Valheim Obliterator: Destroy Unwanted Items (Hearth & Home Update)

Click to share...

The community asked for months for a method of removing unwanted items from their worlds. Chests and chests of bone fragments; rivers overflowing with tossed-in deer trophies; holes dug and filled with beech seeds. The world was becoming a very untidy place indeed! Hearth and Home arrived, and with it came the Obliterator…

The Obliterator is a very Valheim-y way of dealing with this problem. In short, you build the obliterator (like a big trash can with a lightning conductor), fill it with unwanted items, pull the lever, and wait for Thor to send an obliterating lightning bolt and turn it to coal. So, how do you go about building this?

Crafting the Obliterator

The Obliterator takes the following items:

8 x Iron

4 x Copper

1 x Thunder Stone

It also needs a Forge nearby in order to build it. The Thunder Stone is found in Haldor’s trading post stores. You can purchase it with 50 gold coins. Iron is crafted using Scrap Metal from the swamp, and Copper is crafted using Copper Ore from the Black Forest. Build the Obliterator using your hammer. Make sure that you do not build it inside, beneath anything flammable, or up against a wooden structure. Bear in mind the nature of the destructive forces involved here!

Using the Obliterator

To use the Obliterator you should gather your unwanted items. Select the Obliterator with E and fill up the storage with your unwanted items. Next interact with the lever on the right.

Step back and wait for a few seconds. Thor will endow his most precious coal in place of your unwanted items. It can be found inside the Obliterator after Thor’s thunder strikes. The amount of coal varies depending on the item type and weight. The weight of unwanted items is shown at the right hand side. Basically, all items will provide 1 kg of coal for 10 kg of unwanted goods, except:

Trophies give 1kg coal for 1 trophy.

Wood (various types) give 1kg coal for 5 pieces of wood.

Arrows give 1kg coal for 20 arrows.

The production of coal here is a useful addition to the game, as you will likely be churning through tonnes of coal, and therefore wood, in order to keep your smelters fed.
