The latest routine patch from Iron Gate for Valheim, 0.205.5, includes a tough new swamp monster – the Valheim Abomination – as well as a new material and suit of armour!
In addition to a number of routine fixes (music transitions between locations, swamp music volume tweak, player animation fixes, and jump animation fixes) plus a fix to make monsters wake up in certain circumstances when hit by ranged attacks, something has been created that Stirs in the Swamps.
It may not look like much from a distance…

The new Valheim monster is an Abomination of tree matter, and is made of strong stuff. Shaped like a three-legged tree-like spider, this monster packs a punch and is difficult to kill. It ambles rapidly through the swamp using those massive three legs and swipes at or stomps down on its victims.

This Abomination appears to be resistant to blunt weapons, arrows and ice. It is weak against slashing or axe weapons, and possibly to fire attacks. It is quite fast in the open, but struggles to get through dense patches of trees or to change direction. The best strategy may be to use the terrain to your advantage, hiding behind crypts and large indestructable trees. If you can pop out behind it, take a slash at it, and then run around the other way it will be caught out.
The creature has a lot of health, and you will take some time taking it out. Be aware of other monsters in the swamp, as if you attract too much attention you will be killed fairly quickly.
On death the Abomination drops Root, which is a key ingredient for the new armour set, Root Armour, along with Ancient Bark and Deer Hide. This is a lightweight armour with the benefit of movement speed plus a buff to shooting ability of +15 if all three parts are worn. It is also resistant to pierce and poison, though weak to fire.
These unexpected content additions to the game show just how well Iron Gate are gauging their fanbase. The larger Hearth and Home patch was a couple of months ago, and there has been no hint so far of the next update. Throwing this in now has boosted interest in the game, although no doubt there will be much more demand for new content going forward as well.
I do consider all the ideas you’ve introduced to your post. They’re really convincing and will certainly work. Still, the posts are too quick for starters. May you please prolong them a bit from subsequent time? Thanks for the post.
